What do the health clearances mean? Dazzle does NOT have, or carry the gene for a blood clotting disorder (VwD) or Juvenile Dilated Cardiomyopathy (JDCM or JCM) two genetic diseases that can affect the breed. Her eyes were examined by an ophthalmologist (CERF) and are clear of defects. She was tested by a vet and hears normally out of both ears (BAER). She was tested for and does not have thyroid disease (another problem that can affect this breed). She does NOT have, or carry the gene for xanthinuria, a disease of the kidneys in the Manchester Terrier. She does not have luxating patella (loose knee caps is a known problem in toy breeds that affects mobility).
Dazzle was chosen to represent the Toy Manchester Terrier in the newest printing of The AKC Complete Dog Book! She finished her AKC championship easily, winning several majors over specials at AMTC specialty shows. Now retired, her favorite activity is pretending to be the boss of the house when Dot, the real boss, isn’t looking. She loves to bathe in the sun and race around our large yard, getting the other dogs to race alongside her. She’s always looking for scraps on the kitchen floor when we are cooking and first to pile into my lap with the other dogs when I sit down.

Dot is our resident celebrity. She has been featured in the book Earthdog Ins & Outs by Jo Ann Frier-Murza, and in Dog Fancy Magazine (May 2013) for her accomplishments in the sport of AKC Earthdog. She has been asked to participate in Earthdog demonstrations at AKC Meet The Breeds in NYC, thrilling the crowds with her big heart. On May 14, 2014, she became the first Toy Manchester Terrier in the history of the breed to earn the Master Earthdog title. Master is the highest course level in Earthdog. The only other dog in the breed to earn the ME title was a Standard male who earned the title just a few months prior to her, making her the 1st female and 2nd dog in the breed (both varieties) to earn the title.
Dot did her fair share of winning in AKC dog shows prior to her focus on earthdog. Most notably, she won Grand Puppy Sweepstakes under breeder judge Linda Lewin at an AMTC Specialty show in 2007 and was Reserve Winners Bitch at the 2008 AMTC National Specialty over an historically high entry of females under the esteemed Judge Lydia Coleman Hutchinson. Despite Dot’s love and enthusiasm for the show ring, we switched our focus to Earthdog before completing her championship. Dot’s children have carried on her legacy by earni ng show ring championships and grand championships. Her daughter, Dash is a Master Agility Champion and earned a place in the American Manchester Terrier Club (AMTC) Hall of Fame! In 2016, Dot earned the AMTC Register of Merit, a distinction which recognizes the achievements of her offspring.
Dot is outgoing and very much in charge of our household, even though she is our smallest Manchester. Like Alydar, she comes to work with me and helps to train service dogs by acting as a distraction dog for teams in training.

William is as outgoing as he is handsome and makes friends wherever he goes. He has represented the breed at AKC Meet The Breeds in NYC and he’s always a crowd favorite. William is a Junior Earthdog and has been featured in the book Earthdog Ins & Outs alongside Dot. He has also made several television appearances for the American Kennel Club (AKC), representing the breed and the sport of purebred dogs.
He has always loved the show ring. He quickly finished his championship, earned several group placements , and went on to be in the Top 10 nationwide in both breed and all-breed points in 2004. His show career was limited because I was in college at the time so he was mostly shown in the summer. Most dogs that win enough to be ranked in the Top 10 are shown all year, making his ranking an exceptional achievement. He went as high as the #4 Toy Manchester Terrier in the country in July 2004 before losing ground to the dogs that kept showing after I returned to my studies in late August. William went on to become a champion producer, his daughters, CH Dazzle and MACH Dash, carry on his legacy. He is now neutered and enjoying the retired life.
